Supreme Court dismisses bail cancellation plea brought by dead doctor’s son.

The bail, allowed to AAP legislator Prakash Jarwal in the Dr Rajendra Singh suicide case, stands. Today, the Supreme Court bench of Justices Mrs R. Banumathi, Ajay Rastogi and Aniruddha Bose dismissed a bail cancellation appeal by Singh’s son Hemant, saying that it was filed without any proper ground and the order of Delhi High Court was declared proper.

Hemant had claimed that the order of Delhi High Court in granting regular bail to MLA Jarwal was against the settled preposition of law.

Jarwal was granted regular bail by the high court in a detailed order of 16 pages on June 24, as sufficient documents were produced by the advocate Ravi Drall from the side of the MLA which were against the prosecution’s story.

A Delhi court had earlier sent Jarwal, arrested in connection with this case of alleged suicide of a doctor in south Delhi last month, to judicial custody for 14 days.

The court had sent Jarwal and co-accused Kapil Nagar to judicial custody after deciding that their police custody was no longer required for investigation.

Rajendra Singh, 52, allegedly committed suicide in Durga Vihar in south Delhi on April 18. In his suicide note, the doctor held Jarwal responsible for his death. Like Jarwal, Singh was also involved in the business of water supply with the Delhi Jal Board since 2007, and the police alleged that the MLA and his associates were extorting money from other water-tanker owners, including the doctor.

Jarwal, who represents the Deoli assembly constituency, and his aide Nagar were arrested on May 9, after a case of extortion and abetment to suicide was filed against them and others based on a police complaint by the doctor’s son Hemant.
