Can CLAT be held in August under latest lockdown orders, as univs to remain shut until at least 31 August?

Unlock, relock

According to to the latest notification by the Ministry of Home Affairs to try and get life back to a semblance of normality, which lifts the night curfew from 1 August amongst other things, also states that colleges and educational institutions would remain (physically) closed until 31 August.

What is not clear is whether the physical Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) scheduled on 22 August will be included in the restriction or not.

Section 1(i) states that all activities outside containment zones are permitted, except:

schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions will remain closed till 31st August, 2020. Online/ distance learning shall continue to be permitted and shall be encouraged

Whether a mass exam fall under “educational” or “coaching institution” is anyone’s guess at this point…

We understand that the CLAT convenor vice-chancellors (VCs) are scheduled to meet tomorrow in any case, to discuss progress and plans for the exams in the ever-evolving pandemic.
