The Delhi High on Thursday has reserved its order in a plea filed by Devangana Kalita a Pinjra Tod Activist against Delhi Police alleging that the Police had selectively leaked curtained shreds of evidence against her in media in the Anti-CAA Protest case.

The Single Judge bench of Justice Vibhu Bakhru heard the petition through video conferencing.

Advocate Adit S Pujari, Counsel appearing for Devangana Kalita clarified before the bench that by selective leak he means selective leak of information to the media and not to specific persons.

Mr. Pujari stated that “It is selective in the manner in which the information has been leaked to the media. It is causing grave prejudice to me…”

However, the Delhi Police informed the Court that the press note issued was not a selective leak and was done to bring out the correct facts before the public.

Additional Solicitor General Aman Lekhi appearing for the Delhi Police submitted that the nature of the case, charges, and the allegations levied against Ms. Kalita was not revealed, however, only the correct facts were attached to it as the accountability of the institution against the false facts about the protest put up by the group on social media.

Kalita is a JNU Student and was arrested in connection with Anti-CAA violence in Delhi. She is currently lodged in Tihar Jail under judicial custody in the same case.
