The Orissa High Court has granted bail to a person on a condition of planting 100 saplings in his native village at Boudh district. This step can be taken as a unique way of promoting environmental awareness. The accused will have to show the plantations to IO of the Baunsumni police station as a proof of compliance, who will inform the trial court about it.
A single judge Bench of Justice SK Panigrahi granted bail to a person accused of criminal intimidation and attempt to murder who has been in custody for the case registered against him on February 2.
According to the complainant, the accused was in love with his daughter, had forcefully entered his house on January 31 this year, threatened to kill him, assaulted his family members and attempted to kidnap his daughter.
The accused was charged with offences of house trespassing, theft, criminal intimidation, use of criminal force with intent of disrobe a female and attempt to murder under the Indian Penal Code.
The Court noted that the allegations against the accused weren’t established and both the parties knew each other well since there was a wedding proposal between the accused and the complainant’s daughter.
The Bench, therefore granted him bail with a condition that he has to plant 100 saplings in his native village within three months from the date of his release. The Court has also directed the accused to cooperate with the investigation and appear before the officer as and when required, and nit to tamper with evidence or influence witnesses.
