New Delhi: The Supreme Court today dismissed an application for reconstituting the judicial inquiry commission instituted by the top court to investigate the ‘encounter’ killing of gangster Vikas Dubey.
The application wanted the replacing of former DGP KL Gupta with another police official in the commission. The applicant had quoted a media interview in which Gupta had allegedly made a “biased statement”, which, according to the applicant, would fail to represent him as neutral in the committee, but biased towards the police version.
The court, however, felt that the presence of one retired Supreme Court Judge (Justice) and another retired High Court Judge (Justice) made the commission solid enough to withstand any bias.
